What is Yoga

Yoga is a system of exercises and other methods first appeared 5000 years ago. The word yoga comes from Sanskrit root “Yug” which means union. The purpose of the method is exactly the union of physical, energetic, intellectual, mental, and spiritual existence of human, and the understanding of unity that governs our world and the universe. Often the search for and involvement in yoga is accompanied by the need for change that everyone wants for himself, and marks a journey inside our consciousness and deep awareness of self and understanding of the cosmic principles.

Yoga today is gaining more and more trainees. The reason is that as a method tailored to the needs of modern human. There are several types of yoga according to the requirements and capabilities of trainees. There is Hatha, which consists of simple strengthening and flexibility exercises for those involved for the first time. The Vinyasa Yoga for some who want more stamina and strength, because now having been taught the proper technique with Hatha and have obtained a contact and some basic flexibility. And finally the Power Yoga is for those who train years and are trying really hard asanas that require strength, balance, concentration and flexibility. These forms of yoga are the most popular and widespread in the western world.

The purpose of this method is not only physical, that is improving the physical capabilities and the external image of the person who exercises, but also influences in other areas. It gives more energy and vitality, which leads to a feeling of completeness and wellbeing. It helps in the elimination of unnecessary tension and physical relaxation so that our life becomes easier.

Goal is the concentration of individuals in the present, without unnecessary anxieties and thoughts that do not help anywhere, but instead worried us and make life miserable and boring. Through the breaths of relaxation succeeds to eliminate stress and control thoughts and emotions leading to self-control.

At the same time during physical exercises attention is directed internally to better contact and awareness of our body, keeping the attention and concentration in parts of the body that works each exercise. The ultimate goal after years of exercising is the knowledge of each part of the body and breath, to follow the awareness of ourselves, controlling thoughts, controlling emotions and detachment from the situations and emotions that have negative impact on our lives.

The exercises in addition to improving the skills are designed so to have beneficial effects on the nervous and hormonal systems of the body and thus help us obtain, emotional and mental balance. With years of training the trainee consciously is driven to choices that promote health, well being, learning to feel his body and the needs it has.
